Should You Buy a New or Used Mini ATV?

If you are about to start shopping for your first Mini ATV, you are probably considering whether it is worth it to save some money and shop for a used one. But on the other hand, you don’t always know what you are getting when you buy something used and so often a used vehicle can end up costing more than the new in the long run. An ATV, even a mini, is a vehicle and the purchase should be treated as such.

Some things you should consider when deciding between a new and a used Mini ATV:

Price

What can you afford to pay? If your budget doesn’t allow for a brand new Mini ATV, and you cannot or don’t want to get financing for it, then you might not have much left to consider. You may need to look for a used Mini ATV. However, if your budget allows for new, then you still have to decide how much you are willing to spend on a Mini ATV. A lot of people who can afford new still go with used and put the extra money they save toward helmets and other gear, and fixing up the used Mini ATV.

Maintenance

Are you a pretty good mechanic? If not then you will need to consider the additional cost of having any problems that you run across with a used Mini ATV fixed by a professional mechanic. You really won’t know what’s wrong with the used Mini ATV until you’ve had it out once or twice. You also don’t know how old all of the parts are on it or when they will be ready to poop out. With a new Mini ATV you will get a warranty to cover any major mechanical issues that would cost you a fortune to have fixed otherwise if you don’t know how to do the work yourself. Though learning is fun!

Looks

I don’t care what you say, you won’t be happy bringing your kid home a piece of crap looking Mini ATV. Buying new, you’ll get a shiny new Mini ATV. Buying used, you’ll need to do some shopping to find a shiny one, or at least buy some new covers for it before you take it home.
